Flowcrete Increases Workability and Strength Of Concrete
Flowcrete is a superplastisizer, widely employed :-
- To increase workability without changing water content.
- To reduce water content without changing workability.
- To improve pumpability.
- To increase strength.
- To improve potential durability and reduce permeability.
- To reduce the total cost of the materials used in the concrete.
- To compensate for poor aggregate properties.
How Flowcrete Works
When added to a concrete mix, Flowcrete is absorbed on the surface of the binder particles, causing them to repel each other and deflocculate.This results in improved workability and provides a more even distribution of the binder particles through the mix.
Uses :
- Flowcrete can reduce the water requirement of a concrete mix for a given workability, as a rule-of-thumb, by about 10%. Or increases the slump of the concrete for a given water content.
- The addition of Flowcrete makes it possible to achieve a given strength with a lower cement content.
- Flowcrete improves pumpability and helps placement of concrete.
The normal dosage of a Flowcrete is between 300ml and 500 ml per 100 kg of cementitious material for water/cement ratio 0.5
Advantages :
Flowcrete is used to best advantage in following situations :
- For placement of concrete in areas of congested reinforcement.
- Where a self-levelling consistence facilitates placing.
- For designing high-strength concretes by decreasing the water:cement ratio by reducing the water content
Concrete has improved compressive strength, homogenous and nonpermiable
For acheiving water : Cement ratio up to 0.45 recommended Dosage 1 lit/100 kgs.
Chemical Nature : Chloride free, Sulfonated Hydrcarbon based, anionic surface active agent.
Active matter 18 % by wt
