West Bengal Housing Board was established by Government of West Bengal through enactment of West Bengal Housing Board Act, 1972 (ACT XXXII, 1972) in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly with a view to provide Dwelling Units to all sections of people of West Bengal and also to outside people who want to settle in West Bengal at affordable prices depending on their level of income. Keeping this in view, West Bengal Housing Board, after its establishment as an autonomous body under the said Act, has been providing plots with houses, flats and other housing facilities in large housing complexes and mini townships to meet the housing needs of people belonging to EWS,(Economically Weaker Sections) LIG,(Lower Income Groups) MIG,(Middle Income Groups) and HIG(Higher Income Groups) categories.

West Bengal Housing Board has a panel of advocates for the purpose of registration of deeds with prescribed fees for HIG, MIG & LIG units being Rs.1,000/-, Rs.700/- and Rs.400/- respectively which is inclusive of all miscellaneous costs besides legal fees.
